Cakes Exraordinairre

I was looking at another lovely blog and found this cake shop - oh my goodness, I think this gives inspiration for next years cakes! It's the Eugine and Louise Bakery and they have a hand cake on the blog which might put you off your dinner.

"Feed me" ("I like fingers")

Love and Kisses

I was searching through a stack of vintage label inspiration at work and came across this little beauty. I thought it was extra special because it had our initials on it - I wonder what kind of garment it was stitched inside? Maybe a nice cardigan, I think I would like it x x x

Biscuits?

Well, this book looks like essential reading, but as you're not too keen on reading, you'd probably do better with these AMAZING icons for your computer.

But would they make you hungry all the time at work? They do me, I want one of all of them except the Nice biscuit, not too keen on the sugar granules. Might not be helping that I haven't had any breakfast and it is 10.30 - maybe I should go and have some biscuits.

I saw this and thought of you

He he he, this is a good'un. Are you allowed to say this or do you have to keep it said only in the privacy of your own home? It is hand painted text on a vintage plate by a lady called Trixiedelicious.

Mary Jane's B&B

Oh Luce, I've totally fallen for this place. It would be such a great way of escaping from everything. It looks so beautiful and serene and the more I read about the farm the more I fall in love with it. I found it on one of the blogs that I visit (Apartment Therapy). Mark and I have worked out that it will take one day and nine hours to drive there from our house. I would like to go one day it just looks idyllic.

Puppies

Ok, so it's another cute video, but really... I had to show you! Three Men and a Baby with puppies? Not quite in the same league as the lion cub, but pretty good.

Mouse House

Oh I LOVE this! It is a little swiss cheese house with a matchbox bed, crochet door mat and a cotton reel table. perfect! Other cute, cute, cute things on this website - I really like the tiny, child-sized, wooden washing up basin and oven.

Cup Cakes

Can you see this clearly enough? It is a set of cup cakes made by a lady called Zalita, it's called the Mad Hatters Tea Party and it reminds me of your Kiki and Koko picnic cake... but rather more dainty! It gives me an idea for the next round of crazy cakes if ever we are in the same country for a birthday again... Decorated cup cakes here we come...!

She also made this which is so, so, so pretty. If Andy and Niki could do something this exquisite, they'd be onto a bomb. Do you want one?

Look what I haven't got

I didn't win this on eBay, but I would really like to have given it a home and used the threads, each of the draws was filled with them; all different colours. Such a sweet little drawer unit, so I am sending you this picture of it so at least we can look at it if not use it. (ok, it's half falling apart, scruffy, torn and wrinkly.... but it has certain charms.... I like the black knobs!)
Mmmm, threads.

Chocolate Buttons

Banners sent me the best chocolate buttons ever for my birthday. They are REAL buttons! So, so pretty and delicious too, every single one was a different design - I had to ration them. I thought that you would like them a lot.
Here is a close up so you can see the sweet details. ('Sweet'. Geddit?) (Sorry).

Moo-licious!

Have you ever seen such pretty cartons of milk? I just couldn't resist them on a recent trip to Whole Foods. Pink for the girls and blue for the boys (except the flavor Mark usually has came in the pink and mine came in the blue). And the best thing was, it tasted as delicious as it looked.

Puppy Love

While we are on the subject of cute puppies I thought you might quite like this little chap. He is definitely worthy of a feature in Metro.

A Chihuahua puppy born in Japan with a natural heart shaped pattern on his coat has captured the hearts of animal lovers around the world. His natural heart-shaped markings on his fur have made him an instant star in Japan. And it was a case of puppy love across the world as the tiny dog made television appearances worldwide.

Shop owner Ms Sakurada got the surprise of her life when she saw the birthmark heart markings in the fur of her tiny pooch. She said it was the first time a puppy with these marks had been born out of the 1,000 animals that she has bred.

Since Heart-kun was born, he has brought a lot of luck, according to Ms Sakurada. He sister got lucky on the lottery and won a concert ticket.
Heart-kun's owner has been inundated with requests from people wanting to purchase the unique puppy. But they can keep their paws off him, she says, for her little four-legged friend ain't going nowhere!

Funny Flea Faces!

I was watching tele at the weekend and I saw this advert for the first time. It made me smile. I think that Shar Pei puppies (the grey wrinkly one) are the cutest little things (a cross between a teddy bear and a podgy baby) and I liked that he was friends with the pup that looked the most like a wolf cub. It made me think of me and you (I'm the itchy one of course).

Birthday Cakes of 2006

It was the year of the 'special' cakes. They were BRILLIANT fun! So much sickness from icing and sweeties. The anticipation of not knowing what extra special surprise cake you were going to get was too much for the brain box to cope with!
February 2006
Arran's birthday synthesizer made by Lucy
The first of the series definitely set the standard very high.

April 2006
Lucy's Bird cake made by Helen and Arran
Such a beautiful (and tasty) little treat.

May 2006
Helen's Skull and Cross Bones Rock On cake made by Katy and Mark.
I still find it hard to believe that one cake could contain so many eggs. We used 18 large ones in total.

September 2006
Katy's Kiki and Kokos picnic cake made by Mark, Arran, Helen and Lucy
What a work of art. It drove me CRAZY not knowing what magic you were creating in the kitchen all day long. But there was no way I was even close to imagining just how much love was being cooked up. The detail was incredible...hummus and carrot sticks, roast chicken, fresh strawberries, a full tea set and sandwiches with jam inside. AMAZING!

September 2006
Marks Lionel the Lobster cake made by Katy, Lucy, Helen and Arran
He was so realistic Mark mistook him for a real lobster!

2007 - The year of the tray bake
2008 - The year of the Nigella cake?
I'm already salivating at the possibilities this year will bring. It'll be lovely to have a traditional shaped cake full of delicious flavours. Mmm.

Cakey Cakey

Flowers and cake from Arran! Oh my goodness, that cake is rich (page 172 of How to be a Domestic Goddess) Did you look at the recipe? It is made only from fat and sugar: six eggs, a massive jar of Nutella, some nuts, a bar of chocolate, sugar and butter. And the topping... another bar of chocolate and some double cream. That is not a cake, it is a heart attack.
Proceed with caution if you make this cake. I had this TINY slice and got stuck halfway through- it is like eating velvet. Arran ate the same amount and turned green from the sugar and chocolate rush. Have we ever been beaten by a cake before? Do you remember when you ate so many sweets and cakes and bad things that you got tummy ache and you rolled around on the bed doubled in two? He he he he.
This is the best card so far. Following on the pretty birthdayish theme; Kates Jude drew a police station, police car and police man in the rain for me.
And, as you didn't get to see us on any webcams at the weekend, here is a rare photo of me too. (before cake, so I just look tired and not almost passing out!). Do you feel like you came to tea now?

Tiny things

Theres not much better than small things is there? These people make lots of REALLY small things, they are called re-ment. Oh, I really like them.

Easter niceness

It's very nearly easter so here is a reminder of some past Easter niceness seeings as how we can't have a treasure hunt this year, or any stupidly sickly nests together. It has got a bit of all of us in it - you brought those pretty flowers, and Marks birdie is in the window. Missing making nice times with you - Happy Easter you funny heads. x x x x

Pretty craft sewing book from the olden days

I thought that you would like the contents of the top right hand page for your sewing box. I took these pictures years ago (4th year of college in the Constance Howard resource - did you come too?) and just found them again, they make me want to do some sewing!

Bunny Rabbit Lamp

Looks at this bonkers little thing. He is a lamp. Would you like him, if you can't have a real one? (No that would make the desire worse wouldn't it). I would really like to live with him. Does it make you do that funny chinchilla thing, or would he have to be real and furry for that? This is breaking my own rules about not just posting cute animals on here for you. Whoopsie!

Paper Cuts

Thank you very much for the lovely book - now this is to remind you to get yourself a copy of it too. You can see gazzillions of Rob Ryans paper cuts on his website. He is selling nice things (including, yes, some tiles) on Etsy.

These would be good

This mug was found in a charity shop by Hazel Nicholls who designed some of the posters sold by Keep Calm (below). Good innit. Don't think they are still made anywhere though. All places where mass tea orders are taken should have these.

Keep Calm and Carry On.

Well, if these aren't verging on perfect then I don't know what is. Its made by some people called Keep Calm! Can we both have one of each please, and one of each for the teashop too? PS: The Flying Duck is closing down and everything is reduced, they have some good tea cosies!

Christmas 2007 (better late than never)

I thought I better hurry up and post these before we find ourselves in next Christmas.
Just a few little bits and pieces that we had around the house this year. I keep finding nice things in the sales too so I'm already looking forward to unpacking the decorations next year and discovering the treasures all over again.

Pretty Prints

I've been looking around for a nice bit of fabric to hang at our front door and I recently spotted these beauties at Urban Outfitters. The Neighborhood bedspread reminded me of the way that you make things look pretty.
